Major Sun & Moon Card Mechanics

Pokémon-GX

GX Pokémon gave up two Prize cards and had a GX attack usable only once per game.

Rainbow Rare and gold Secret Rare

Rainbow treatments applied a multicolour foil style to Full Art Pokémon-GX. Gold secrets covered Pokémon, Trainers and Energy across the era.

Prism Star cards

Only one copy of a Prism Star name could be included in a deck. When discarded, it entered the Lost Zone instead.

Tag Team Pokémon-GX

Tag Teams combined two or three Pokémon on one card and usually gave up three Prize cards when Knocked Out.

Character secret rares

Cosmic Eclipse paired Pokémon with Trainers in full-art scenes, anticipating later Trainer Gallery and Illustration Rare styles.

How Many Cards Are in Hidden Fates?

Hidden Fates has 68 normally numbered cards, one secret rare Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GX 69/68, and 94 Shiny Vault cards numbered SV1 through SV94. Counting all three groups produces 163 distinct checklist entries.

A “complete 68-card set” therefore excludes the secret trio card and the entire Shiny Vault. A master set may also require reverse-holographic versions from the normal checklist.

Use the prefix when searching

“Charizard-GX 49” is ambiguous. “Charizard-GX SV49 Hidden Fates” identifies the Shiny Vault card precisely.
