As of August 13, 2026, the English release order is Mega Evolution, Phantasmal Flames, Ascended Heroes, Perfect Order, Chaos Rising and Pitch Black. Five are main expansions and Ascended Heroes is a special expansion. Pitch Black, released July 17, 2026, is the newest officially released set.

What Is the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Series?
The Mega Evolution Series is the English Pokémon TCG era that followed Scarlet & Violet. It began on September 26, 2025 and restored Mega Evolution Pokémon as modern Pokémon ex.
Mega Evolution Pokémon ex are powerful three-Prize Pokémon. Their names place “Mega” before the Pokémon’s name, such as Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex. The series retained the modern Illustration Rare, Ultra Rare and Special Illustration Rare structure while adding dedicated Mega Evolution chase treatments.
Do not confuse this series with XY-era Mega cards
The XY Series also featured Mega Evolution Pokémon, usually written with “M” at the beginning of the card name. Modern Mega Evolution Series cards use a different template, collector numbering system and legality period. Use the complete XY set guide for the older era.
1. Mega Evolution Card List and Chase Cards
Mega Evolution
The first expansion introduced modern Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and established the new series. Its ten Mega Evolution Pokémon ex include headline cards such as Mega Lucario ex, Mega Gardevoir ex, Mega Venusaur ex, Mega Latias ex, Mega Kangaskhan ex and Mega Absol ex.
Major chase cards: Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex lead the premium Mega treatments, while their Special Illustration Rare versions are also central collector cards. The set contains 56 numbered cards beyond its 132-card denominator.
2. Phantasmal Flames Card List and Chase Cards
Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames
Phantasmal Flames is a compact Fire- and Darkness-focused expansion headlined by Mega Charizard X ex. Its Mega lineup also includes Mega Gengar ex, Mega Heracross ex, Mega Lopunny ex, Mega Sharpedo ex and Mega Diancie ex.
Major chase cards: Mega Charizard X ex is the defining Pokémon across multiple rarities. Dawn and Mega Sharpedo ex are additional premium illustration targets. The complete numbered checklist contains 94 main-set cards and 36 cards beyond the denominator.

3. Ascended Heroes Card List and Chase Cards
Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes
Ascended Heroes is the first special expansion of the series and the largest numbered checklist in the block through August 2026. It expands the Mega roster with a broad selection of Pokémon, Trainers and premium illustration cards.
Major chase cards: Mega Gengar ex and Mega Dragonite ex are two of the expansion’s headline collector cards. Mega Dragonite ex 295/217 closes the numbered checklist. Because Ascended Heroes is a special expansion, products were distributed through formats such as Elite Trainer Boxes and collections rather than traditional 36-pack booster boxes.
4. Perfect Order Card List and Chase Cards
Mega Evolution—Perfect Order
Perfect Order returned the series to a compact main-expansion format. Mega Zygarde ex anchors the set, with additional Mega Evolution Pokémon and Kalos-linked characters supporting the checklist.
Major chase cards: Mega Zygarde ex, Mega Starmie ex, Mega Clefable ex and Rosa’s Encouragement lead the premium rarities. The complete numbered checklist runs to 124, including 36 cards beyond the printed denominator.
5. Chaos Rising Card List and Chase Cards
Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising
Chaos Rising focuses on a crisis in Lumiose City, with Mega Floette ex at the centre of the expansion’s story. Mega Greninja ex, Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Dragalge ex are among the Pokémon opposing the threat.
Major chase cards: Mega Greninja ex leads the set’s collector demand, joined by premium versions of Mega Floette ex and other featured Mega Pokémon. Its 122-card numbered list consists of 86 main cards and 36 cards beyond the denominator.
6. Pitch Black Card List and Chase Cards
Mega Evolution—Pitch Black
Pitch Black is the newest English expansion covered by this guide. It is led by Mega Darkrai ex and also introduces Mega Zeraora ex to the modern Mega Evolution Series.
Major chase cards: Mega Darkrai ex is the signature card across the expansion’s premium treatments, while Gwynn and other illustrated cards broaden the collector checklist. The set has 84 cards before secrets and 120 numbered cards in total.

Understand special-set products
Main expansions typically receive booster boxes. Ascended Heroes is a special expansion, so collectors generally find packs through Elite Trainer Boxes, booster bundles and collection products instead.
